Shropshire, UK – Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, recently appointed Nils Rawert as Business Development Manager in Europe. Rawert will focus on the mainland European automotive, aerospace, construction energy and other industrialised sectors. The hire complements existing European Business Development Manager for the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors, Sean Thomson.
Based in Germany, Rawert’s focus will be on deepening relationships with clients and leading European sales growth for Smithers’ portfolio of polymer materials and product testing services. The addition supports the organisation’s global expansion of its testing services and its commitment to the principles of providing accurate data, on time, with high touch to all clients.
In Europe, these services are provided by Smithers’ UK laboratories that specialise in
testing plastic and rubber materials as well as
hoses and components for fluid transfer systems. The laboratories offer a range of durability and performance testing services including (but not limited to):
- Material characterisation/re-engineering
- Physical properties (including structural, physical, thermal and UV)
- Fluid susceptibility
- Life prediction and ageing
- Fixture design to meet customer and specification testing requirements
- Pressure, vibration and temperature
- Environmental aging and exposure
- Circulation of test fuels
“Nils has a proven ability to develop client relationships,” said Sam Sheppard Fidler, Vice President Europe, Smithers Materials Science and Engineering Division. “His engineering understanding and practical, problem solving capabilities will enable him to work closely with clients across Europe and in partnership with Smithers’ technical experts to develop testing solutions that support clients’ individual needs.”
Rawert has an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Münster University of Applied Sciences in Germany and a background in project management and sales for highly accurate, complex measurement systems in the area of biomechanical research. He will be based out of Bremen, Germany.
