Smithers Quality Assessments China division recently welcomed Mr. Yong Shao into the role of General Manager.

With over 30 years’ experience, Yong brings to Smithers a wealth of knowledge.  He has an extensive and diverse background in business and management, with experience managing global sales teams, developing business plans, global operations, and business performance in and out of the 3rd party certification profession.

He was born in China and immigrated to Canada and joined (Quality Management Institute) QMI in 1999. He then relocated back to China to start QMI’s 3rd party certification business as a greenfield venture. There he held various positions as Sales Director, Managing Director and Chief Representative. He also holds auditing credentials.  

Yong has a Bachelor's Degree in Material Science & Technology from Southeast University of China and an Executive MBA from The University of Texas at Arlington, USA.
