Amanda Cool

Amanda oversees the Smithers chemical testing laboratory in Akron, Ohio, including wet chemistry and the chromatography and spectrometry lab. She ensures the smooth and high-quality execution of client testing projects and manages a team of chemists. She is also responsible for developing and launching new chemical characterization and benchmarking services and identifying opportunities for capability expansion.

Amanda is also responsible for dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) testing at the material testing lab in Akron, Ohio. She joined Smithers in 2015 and has worked in the physical and chemical testing labs, as well as the analytical services lab in a quality specialist role.

Amanda has significant experience working with rubbers, plastics, and tire components. As a test engineer, she is focused on dynamic mechanical analysis, primarily of tire treads, assessing viscoelastic properties and glass transition temperatures. Qualifications and Professional Accreditation

Amanda has a Bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Akron. She is a Certified Quality Auditor through the American Society for Quality, an ASTM D11 member, and a CenTire participant.
