The Future of European Print to 2027 shows a mixed picture for the next five years for print providers and their suppliers. The current massive ‘Printflation’ impact on paper, inks, plates, energy and transport is pushing prices higher in 2022, but this will have the impact of depressing demand in publications and graphic print as inflation hits consumers and economic recession and uncertainty hits marketing and print budgets. The war in Ukraine has had a devastating impact for Ukrainian print and packaging providers, as well as pushing Russian volumes lower. There are knock-on effects in Eastern Europe and the impacts of sanctions on Russia and uncertainty about energy availability and prices is impacting the supply of print across Europe.
